Condition of Employment
The "Condition of Employment" refers to the foundational terms that define the relationship between an employer and employee from the very beginning of employment. It includes not just the nature and type of work, but also how, when, and where the work is to be performed. This encompasses working hours, rest and meal breaks, weekly holidays, appointment procedures, probation periods, confirmation, classification of workers, transfers, promotions, and termination processes. In the context of Bangladeshi labour law, these conditions are clearly outlined in the Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006, to ensure that employment practices are transparent, lawful, and fair to both employers and employees. Ensuring clarity in these conditions is crucial to fostering a compliant and harmonious workplace.
